Belief In God

A Story of Values

Word of Grace Fellowship was incorporated in 1988 and came out of a Bible Study that was at Evangelistic Centre in Rahway ( word of faith church) under the direction of Rev. Dr. Paul F. MCCarthy. In 1985 we started meeting at a friends house and in spring 1988 after Dr. McCarthy had died we then left Evangelistic Centre to start our own church. Rev. John was ordained as the Pastor & Rev. Don Carson was ordained as the Asst. Pastor in Oct 1988. We started with a group of about 20 people and met at the YMCA in Summit and we also had a Bible Study at the YWCA in Elizabeth. In 1989, we started a cable TV show entitled Nothing but Grace and were on several channels in Middlesex and Union Counties. The Rev. John Hogan our founding pastor, taught the gospel of grace and proclaimed the righteousness of God. Our focus has always been the Gospel of Grace & God's righteousness and always will be. Rev. John's vision was that there would be a church where the grace of God would be clearly taught and the righteousness of God would be clearly preached, and we are still following that vision.

In August 1999, we went on the Internet with home pages for the Pastor and Asst. Pastor, which were listed on AOL Hometown. We have now started a new webpage that is listed at www.WordofGraceFellowship.com

In September 2006 The Rev. John Hogan died and in October 2006 Rev. Don Carson, the Asst. Pastor, was ordained as the new Pastor. Rev Dr Natalie Marino  became the new Asst. Pastor in March of 2007.

Many of the original members who still keep in contact with the church have moved away. We are seeking people to come join us at Word of Grace so that we can fellowship with others and grow together in the Gospel. If what you see here interests you then please feel free to write us so that we can have a chance to minister to you His amazing Grace!

This page gives us the opportunity to introduce the pastor and key staff members.

Paul tells us that all believers are ministers of reconciliation, and Jesus told us to make disciples from all nations. Believers are given a ministry to go & tell others about Jesus. This ministry is a Divine Commission of which all are to take part."''"

DR REV DON CARSON , CURRENT PASTOR SINCE 2006 TILL PRESENT

. Rev Don has been here since the founding of this ministry in 1988, first as an Assistant Pastor and now as Pastor.  His dedication to his faith and to the church is a strength that we all benefit from. Rev. Don is married .  His first wife, Janet, passed away unfortunately. However recently Rev Don married Maricel Carson who is a participant of our charge and serves as the church secretary.

Rev. Don Carson graduated from Emmanuel College in 1985 with a B.S. in Pastoral Ministries and a SS teaching certificate. He was licensed with the Pentecostal Holiness Church in June 1985 until he left in the spring of 1988 to start Word of Grace Fellowship with our founding Pastor, Rev. John Hogan.

Rev. Carson was licensed & ordained as the Asst. Pastor with Word of Grace Fellowship in Oct. 1988 and ministered with Rev. John Hogan until Rev. Hogan died in Sept 2006. Rev Carson was chosen to be the new Pastor and was installed as the 2nd Pastor of Word of Grace Fellowship in Oct. 2006.

Presently, Pastor Carson is teaching a series entitled the Gifts of God. It deals with the motivational gifts, our inheritance in Jesus Christ, the positions of the church, the time tested fruit of the Spirit and a study of God's Character. Please join us for this series as we continue to grow in the gospel of grace and in the knowledge of His Personal Righteousness!"''"

We at Word of Grace, also believe that women are a vital part of the ministry. We believe that women should have a vital role in the ministry of the church. The first witness to the resurrection was a woman & women were instrumental in the ministry of the early church. The traditional church has not taken advantage of this valuable resource. Paul said that both male & female are one in Christ, so both men & women are able to minister God's Righteousness. Men forget that God is the ordainer, for He chooses people to minister, so we should let God choose whom he will, instead of telling God how we want it to be."''"
